Montessori day celebration
Every year Dr. Maria Montessori’s birthday (31 August) is celebrated in BPS (Jr. Sec.) as Montessori Day or founders Day. This year also it was celebrated with great joy. It was the 67th founders day & 142nd birth anniversary of Dr. Maria Montessori. Mr. Raj Singh the chief scientist of Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, was the Chief Guest. He is an old boy of BPS.
Director BET, Col V.N. Ratnakar, Principal BPS, Captain Alokesh Sen, Mrs. Sen, Principal, Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Dr. M. Kasturi, Principal Birla School Pilani, Headmistress Birla Shishu Vihar, Mrs. Dimri, were the other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The function began at 7.15 am with the outdoor programme which included YOGA DISPLAY, TAEKWONDO DISPLAY, HOCKEY ON SKATES and WATER POLO. Children displayed various asanas in yoga. Different tricks and punches were displayed in Taekwondo. There was a match on Hockey on skates between Bal Griha and Kishore Griha. Bal Griha won the match. The children of Shishu Griha I participated in water polo and entertained the guests.
The outdoor programme was followed by the breakfast. After that indoor programme started with lighting the lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries followed by the school prayer. The cultural programme started with a prayer “Showers of Blessings” and then a rhyme was recited by class II students “Rabbits on the hill side”.In orchestra children played congo, harmonium,maracus, rock rum, xylophone, matka and casio. Children were dressed as the vehicles of various gods. A skit, “ A tree and a boy” was performed to tell the importance of trees. The dance on the song “ Dhol bajne laga” performed by the students was praised by everyone. After that prize distribution took place in which the winners of different events were awarded with a certificates and prizes. Different houses were given trophies for different activities.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and brooded over his old days in the school. He praised the students for their wonderful performance. Then the headmistress (Junior Section) Mrs Usha Sharma proposed the vote of thanks which was followed by the National anthem and inauguration of the Art exhibition to have a glance at the student’s creative work. It was a great display which entertained the people of all ages.
A band display was there during the tea time.
